A very rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 1601 model with a Roman numeral 'pie pan' dial that has aged to an interesting olive/brown colour that is described as 'Tropical' in the watch community. It is unusual for this to occur to dials on Datejust models, as it more frequently seen on Rolex sport models with black dials, such as the Submariner and GMT's. The case is made in stainless steel and features an eighteen carat white gold bezel. The watch is powered by the classic Rolex Swiss made twenty six jewel automatic calibre 1570 that also powered the iconic sports watches such as the GMT and the Submariner. The watch was made circa 1965 with serial number 125XXXX. The interior of the case back is stamped IV65, which means that the watch was produced in the fourth quarter of 1965. The watch is in original condition, and comes with a Foundwell one year warranty against mechanical failure.
